NS5063 : Hawkhead fuel depot

taken 8 years ago, near to Paisley, Renfrewshire, Great Britain

Hawkhead fuel depot
Hawkhead fuel depot
This was the fuel depot for the three miles distant Glasgow Airport which was fed by a pipeline which ran from here to the airport, but which is no longer in use. The depot itself appears to be in working order.

The Glasgow Central - Paisley Canal line is just visible on the left. The presence of the fuel depot kept the line open after the passenger service to Kilmacolm was withdrawn in 1983. Passenger services to Paisley Canal resumed in 1990.
