Gaw's Bridge, Glen Tilt
Gaw's Bridge, Glen Tilt
This bridge crosses the River Tilt just above Marble Lodge. The marble was quarried from a vein which runs parallel to the river, and some blocks and outcrops of marble are visible in the foreground here. Gaw or Gow is an anglicisation of Gaelic 'gobha', meaning a smith, so the bridge may have been named after a local smith.
