SU9459 : Bisley Common, Japanese Knotweed

Bisley Common, Japanese Knotweed
Bisley Common, Japanese Knotweed
Japanese Knotweed invading Bisley Common, probably introduced from dumped garden waste. This will become a major problem on the heath if it is not dealt with soon. Unfortunately people think that dumping garden waste is harmless as it is bio-degradable, but this is far from the truth as "foreign" species can become established and frequently destroy delicate habitats (witness the spread of Himalayan Balsam)!
