TM0766 : Cotton St. Andrew's Church

taken 17 years ago, near to Cotton, Suffolk, England

Cotton St. Andrew's Church
Cotton St. Andrew's Church
Cotton was immortalised in Pip Wright’s book ‘Lydia’, although the church, which has many interesting features, was not a strong element in the story. The tower has enormous buttresses almost 5 feet wide which stand at right-angles to the face of the tower. At the opposite end of the church the pinnacles which rise from the east corners are elegantly crocketted with shallow niches below. The south porch protects the lovely 14th c. door, with three engaged columns each side and decorated arch above.
