Church of St Mary, Temple Guiting
Church of St Mary, Temple Guiting
With it's connection to the Knights Templar, this small village is steeped in history and was once a key meeting place for knights as they joined fellow knights to travel to the Holy Land to fight in the crusades. The church of St. Mary was built in the 13th century and much altered in the Georgian period. A Decalogue of wooden panels representing the ten commandments and a stone carving of a templar cross are to be seen. The church also has an unusual clock dated 1870.
