Now here's a strange thing. The metal gate in this picture leads to a very seldom used track which crosses a boggy piece of moorland between the road through an unpopulated part of Harlosh and the road in Feorlig. I photographed the gate in October 2008 - NG2843 : Track to Feorlig.
Recently, the track has been improved, with some attempts at drainage of the boggiest patches, the insertion of the wooden kissing gate seen here, and a second one further along the track. The question is - why?
