Under Newhaven East Pier
Under Newhaven East Pier
This forms the eastern side of the harbour entrance. Beyond the piling on the right the seabed suddenly drops to give an available draught around 6 m at low tide. This view was taken around 20 minutes before predicted low tide. Remarkably, our two state agencies, the Admiralty and the Natural Environment Research Council, cannot agree on either the predicted tide times or heights. For this tide the discrepancies were four minutes and 0.24 m.
