Battersea Power Station and clear skies
Battersea Power Station and clear skies
This was taken during the period in May 2010 when the eruption of a volcano in Iceland grounded air traffic across Europe. Usually there is a queue of aircraft over Battersea Power Station making their final approach to Heathrow from the east at a rate of one every 90 seconds; but on this day the sky was completely clear.
Battersea Power Station
Battersea Power Station is a former power station on the south bank of the Thames. Battersea A was opened in 1935 and B in 1955. The power station stopped generating in 1983. It is a Grade II* listed building and an Iconic landmark. Many plans for its redevelopment have come and gone.
