The Nun's Walk and Marjoribanks Monument, Coldstream
The Nun's Walk follows the line of the wall in my photo and is associated with a Cistercian Priory which used to be found along this walkway. However no trace of the Priory can be found now as it was destroyed during cross border conflict. The Marjoribanks Monument stands 70ft high and was erected in 1834 to the memory of Charles Marjoribanks who was first MP for Berwickshire after the Reform Act of 1832.
NT8439 : Coldstream, Church of Scotland This appears to be the westerly of the two close churches with tower on Coldstream High Street, although the location coordinates do not make that clear. And what is the significance of the blue sign on the church front which I believe reads 'HOSTELRY'?
