near to East Cowes, Isle of Wight, Great Britain

The America's Cup
Dating from 1851, and named after the yacht "America", from the USA, which beat all-comers, from Britain, in a race around the Isle of Wight.
The USA re-gained the America's Cup, early in 2010, and will host the 34th America's Cup, in San Francisco. The trophy, which has never been won by Great Britain, was on display, at Cowes, to mark the inaugural "1851 Cup" event between the USA and Great Britain.
