In this churchyard is a grave which reads:
"Gravestone in Ipplepen churchyard:
"Our Dear Mother Sarah Hodge wife of Richard Hodge died August 26th 1872 aged
72 years.
Dear Mother we still love thee:
We cherish thy memory:
We will serve thy Saviour:
We will meet thee in Heaven.
Also of the above named Richard Hodge, who died Sep 20th 1878 aged 83 years.
In Affectionate Memory of Joseph Hart, late of East Budleigh near Exeter
Devonshire who met his death by an accident in the Manukau Gold Mine, New
Zealand October 31st 1872 aged 47 years and was interred in the Thames
Cemetery"
