Pele Tower, Inner Farne Island
Pele Tower, Inner Farne Island
A pele tower is a small or relatively small fortified tower house. They're found in districts close to the Scotland/England border. This one was built (according to the National Trust,) in 1500. The Farne Islands form a nature reserve best known for sea birds; the rough collection of twigs and branches in the photo is an attempt to provide interest for other types of bird.
