Munitions workers' memorial in Erith Cemetery
Munitions workers' memorial in Erith Cemetery
As you enter the eastern half of Erith Cemetery from Brook Street, you cannot miss this beautifully kept memorial. It is to the 12 women munitions workers and their male foreman who were killed in an explosion on February 18th 1924 at the WV Gilbert munitions works based in wooden huts on Crayford Marshes.
