Sotterley St Margaret's church, Suffolk
Sotterley St Margaret's church, Suffolk
The church is in the grounds of Sotterley Hall and apart from when there is a service, the only access is by a three-quarters of a mile trudge across the park. The village of Sotterley was consolidated with Willingham in the middle of the 16th century. The foundations and parts of the walls were built by Norman builders. The church has numerous memorials and portraits of the Playters family who lived in the Hall. One of the brasses to Sir Thomas dates from the 15th c.. The quality of the memorials is quite exceptional.
