NO4841 : Hare Cairn

taken 14 years ago, near to Carrot, Angus, Scotland

Hare Cairn
Hare Cairn
A prehistoric burial cairn, a television transmitter mast and a farm all share the name 'Hare Cairn'.

The cairn appears nowadays as a low grassy mound about 25m in diameter which is bisected by a boundary fence.

A record from the 1880s describes it as "a very large heap of stones under which many human bones have been found".
