Ventilating station, Sidney Street
This is one of three enormous and imposing ventilation buildings for the Birkenhead-to-Liverpool road tunnel (Queensway). There is a strong Art Deco theme in all the tunnel constructions. An amazing picture of these stations and fascinating information can be found at LinkExternal link
Usage of the tunnel started on 17th December 1933, and it was officially opened by King George V on 18th July 1934.
