Bass Rock is a volcanic plug sited in the Forth of Forth near to North Berwick. The lighthouse is situated to the south of the island as is the ruins of a castle dating back to at least 1405. The Light was automated in 1988 and is now remotely monitored from the Board’s headquarters in Edinburgh.
