Hertford: The former Christ's Hospital
This was the entrance to Christ's Hospital, popularly known as The Bluecoat School, for about 400 years until 1985 when the Girls' School on this site moved to amalgamate with the main Christ's Hospital school near Horsham in Sussex. The figures of two pupils still however adorn the pillars at the entrance and the road through the site is called Bluecoats Avenue.
