Fritillary on a thistle, Parkhill Inclosure, New Forest
A nearby signboard at the western end of the Frohawk Ride proclaims that the silver-washed fritillary is one of our larger butterflies and can be observed in the inclosure between July and August. I'm not an expert, but so far my money's on this being a silver-washed fritillary.
