Black Cleugh
Black Cleugh
Cuts into Westend Moor. Taken from where the leat crosses the marshy stream running down the cleuch.
At this time Allenheads was facing a water shortage, there being little running off the moors and the peat up here was bone dry.

Cleugh is one of the many words regarded as Scots, but in regular use in Northern England as well, like Lough, the ch sound uses a g.
