TM1664 : Aspall St Mary of Grace
near to Aspall, Suffolk, Great Britain

Aspall St Mary of Grace
There is a wooden north porch and a scratch dial on the south nave buttress. The font is a traditional East Anglian type. The Holy table is of Stuart date. The 13th c. church itself holds very little of interest to the historian although some of the animal carvings on the bench ends are worth viewing. Anne Francis Chevallier daughter of John, famous as an agriculturalist, was born here in 1845 and was later to marry Henry Kitchener and become the mother of the future Lord Kitchener. There is a memorial to him in the church.
