Sampford Courtenay: the village
Sampford Courtenay: the village
Looking north-north-west. A recently carved memorial stone nearby states: ‘On Whit Monday 1549 Sampford Courtenay people killed a local farmer William Hellyons and then joined the Cornish in the Prayer Book Rebellion which ended in defeat by the King’s Army outside this village’.
