Goatee Beach, Eling
Goatee Beach, Eling
Not the sort of beach where you'd spread out a towel to sunbathe, or even paddle, but this beach on the shore of the Test estuary is a convenient recreational area for the local population. Out of sight on the right are some picnic tables and a bin. The beach has views across the estuary, towards the container port (just visible on the left) and downstream towards Marchwood. The shiny dome in the distance is the Marchwood Incinerator. In this picture the tide is on the way back in. The estuary has an unusual double high tide, which is obviously an advantage to the port operators.
