Inside an operational Cornish Engine House, Camborne
The National Trust operate this museum and inside the engine house is a massive beam engine, over 100 years old, pumping up and down behind a safety cage. There is also an accompanying display of old photographs - many showing the pitifully primitive working conditions of men, deep underground with candles on their helmet brims, posing for the camera. I got out fast.
