TQ3081 : The southern end of Kingsway

taken 13 years ago, near to London, The City of London, England

The southern end of Kingsway
The southern end of Kingsway
When Kingsway was constructed a tram tunnel was formed beneath the road, using the 'cut and cover' technique. The tunnel extended the length of Kingsway and beyond - towards Waterloo Bridge. Although the tunnel still exists, the only part now in use is the southern end, which forms a road tunnel underpass under the Aldwych. LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
