St Mary at Finchley
St Mary at Finchley
Founded on this site as the Church of Our Ladye Saint Marye at Fynceslea by Bishop Erkenwald around AD675, the church was rebuilt around AD1100 and again in the 15th century. Part of the south aisle was added as recently as 1932. Following bomb damage during the WWII, the church was restored in 1953. Due to the many trees and the adjacent brick building that surround the church, this is the only angle from which the clock is visible!
