Polish training ship Fryderyk Chopin was towed to Falmouth by Newlyn fishing boat, Nova Spiro, after losing her masts about 100 miles (160 kilometres) south-west of the Isles of Scilly. There were 47 people on board including 36 trainees all aged 14.
