Before the advent of the telephone, if an emergency arose on the island which required outside help, the islanders used to light a beacon on the summit of Mynydd Enlli. Fishermen on the mainland would then respond.

Mynydd Enlli was the first of the 157 Welsh Marilyns climbed within record speed by members of the Cardiff based Welsh Logistic Regiment (Volunteer), Royal Logistic Corps, during July 2011.
