Oil Patch Warrior Statue
Unveiled in 1991 as a memorial to the 42 American oilmen who worked at Duke's Wood and their contribution to the war effort. A similar memorial stands at Ardmore, Oklahoma, their home town. They worked for the Noble Drilling Corporation and the Fain-Porter Drilling Company, who developed the oilfield for the British Government. The statue stands in a glade planted out by BP Exploration with native British trees.
