Lindhurst wind farm

Lindhurst wind farm, between Mansfield and Blidworth, began operating in September 2010, having been two years in construction. Its five turbines have a total capacity of 9 megawatts. It is predicted to be able to supply energy for the equivalent of approximately
5,400 households each year. At 125 metres in height, the turbines are the tallest in the UK and can be seen from miles around, for example from Kimberley, near Nottingham, about 10 miles away as the crow flies. (see SK5044 : Looking towards Watnall from Kimberley cemetery).
