Holwick Scar
Holwick Scar
Holwick Scar is made up of what is locally known as Whin Sill. "Sill" being the term for an horizontal layer of rock and "whin", meaning a hard intractable black rock. Whinsill also gives rise to nearby Low Force.
Rock Climbing is currently banned on Holwick Scar because of objections from the locals.
