This memorial is to a former Professor of Philosophy at Edinburgh University. Stewart lived 1753 - 1828. His monument is in Grecian style and designed by the architect, William Playfair. There are spectacular views from this point to Edinburgh Castle, the Scott Monument and Princes Street.
