TM0734 : Where are the snows of yesteryear?

near to East Bergholt, Suffolk, Great Britain

Where are the snows of yesteryear?
Where are the snows of yesteryear?
This memorial bench to Leonard and Ruth Snow, long-time residents of a nearby house, sits to the north-east of St Mary's church all year long. But when their eponymous precipitation covers their memorial, a photo is called for. And the inscription in mediaeval French from François Villon LinkExternal link translated by D.G.Rossetti as above, is particularly apt. The original probably meant "Where are last year's snows?" but Rossetti's translation has become established with its wider reference.
