TM0734 : Where are the snows of yesteryear?

taken 7 years ago, near to East Bergholt, Suffolk, Great Britain

Where are the snows of yesteryear?
Where are the snows of yesteryear?
This memorial bench to Leonard and Ruth Snow, long-time residents of a nearby house, sits to the north-east of St Mary's church all year long. But when their eponymous precipitation covers their memorial, a photo is called for. And the inscription in mediaeval French from François Villon LinkExternal link , translated by D.G.Rossetti as above, is particularly apt. The original probably meant "Where are last year's snows?" but Rossetti's translation has become established with its wider reference.
