Bradwell St Nicholas' church
Bradwell St Nicholas' church
Bradwell is one of the many heavily restored churches that offer little to the historian. However there are a few items of interest for the visitor to see. The structure of the church is 14th century as is the traditional East Anglian font which is in remarkably good condition. Around the octagonal bowl there are carvings of winged angels and other creatures and lions guarding the base. There is a monument to William Vesey who is flanked by his two wives; behind each of them is a child. On a frieze below is a reclining man flanked by what appears to be four more children. Although the woodwork in the church is of good quality it is comparatively modern. The rood loft stairs are still open. There are two piscinas, one 14th century the other, a cusped Victorian reproduction with matching sedilia.
