SS Ocean Mist, Leith - steam engine
SS Ocean Mist, Leith - steam engine
This is the vessel's main inverted vertical triple expansion steam engine. Built 1919 by McKie & Baxter Ltd, Paisley with cylinders 12.5", 21" & 35" x 26" stroke and good 500 horsepower.

This photograph was taken during work to convert the vessel to its current format (see - NT2776 : The Water of Leith). The boiler had been scrapped and a glass wall has now been inserted in front of the engine room. The contractors doing the conversion were kind enough to let me and my colleague have a look.
