The spiral loop at Dduallt on the Ffestiniog Railway
The spiral loop at Dduallt on the Ffestiniog Railway
Taken from a moving train at MR: SH67754195 looking south at Dduallt (pronounced I think 'Theee-awlt' - please forgive and correct me Welsh speakers if this is wrong!) on the Ffestiniog Railway. The loop was put in the track to gain height to go around the back of the Tanygrisiau Reservoir. Formerly, the railway had gone through a tunnel and up the valley to Blaenau Ffestiniog, but the valley was flooded to make way for the reservoir.
