Waterloo Mills, Silsden - steam engine
This is the high pressure cylinder of the 1896 Scott & Hodgson inverted vertical cross compound engine - SE0446 : Waterloo Mills, Silsden - steam engine. It is 17" x 48" and fitted with Corliss valves. The steam valves are on the right (top and bottom) and driven by the trip gear in the centre. The governor controls the point of cut-off (how much steam is admitted) and the horizontal lever (dead centre) is part of the patent late cut-off gear that allows steam to be admitted for longer than is normally possible with Corliss gear.
