Passing trains at Fairwood Junction
Passing trains at Fairwood Junction
The 1230 Paddington to Paignton service having called at Westbury station passes a northbound service at Fairwood Junction. The lines on the right are the Westbury avoiding lines which the non stop services use to bypass Westbury. This picture was taken in the days of the mechanical signalling , now its modern colour lights. Also in those days there were a large amount of Elm trees around here but most of them caught the Dutch Elm disease and were killed off.
