Battle of Hastings
This is part of the battlefield, 14th October 1066. As a Saxon you would have been looking down this slope at the advancing Norman army, holding firm in your defensive wall and perhaps engaging in man on man fighting. You were doing well in the morning until some clever tactics from William Duke of Normandy, head of their lot, led to your army breaking ranks and to your King, Harold Godwinson, being killed. Soon it was all over. If you had survived you would have sworn you allegiance to the new King pretty quickly. Today there is a popular battlefield walk with very good headset commentaries and information boards describing the course of the battle.
