Ludlow
Ludlow is a small town in South Shropshire. It is situated on a small hill on the eastern bank of a bend in the River Teme. The town has a long history dating back to Norman times and has nearly 500 listed buildings LinkExternal link , including a castle and one of the largest parish churches in the country. The old town was a 13th century planned grid iron town surrounded by a wall, with seven gates (only one remains). There are many examples of Tudor, Elizabethan and Georgian buildings. Today Ludlow is a thriving Market town with a healthy tourist trade. Described as "The most perfect town in England" - John Betjeman

River Teme
The River Teme rises in Mid Wales and flows eastwards through Knighton and Ludlow, it then forms the Shropshire / Worcestershire border before joining the River Severn near Worcester. It is 81 miles long. Its entire length has been designated a SSSI.
Grade I & A listed buildings and structures
Grade I listed buildings and structures are of exceptional importance and even internationally important. There are over 6000 in the country. Only 2.5% of listed buildings are Grade I listed.
