Cairn on Craigeach Moor
This cairn is one of two on the moor in this grid square marked on OS Mapping. Access to this point was achieved through Barquhill Farm NX3656 : Barquhill Farm and across the moor past Muir Hill. The land here is mostly marshy bracken, rough grassland, heather and gorse with several rocky outcrops and small burns and tributaries criss crossing the area. Getting here to bag this first was in a word - tough. The melting winter snows had saturated the area so most of the time I was ankle or knee deep in cold water, not so much walking across the moor but zig-zagging like a drunken crab. The cairn stands about 8 feet high and the view is towards the Cairnsmore of Fleet on the horizon. The risen moon can be seen to the left of the cairn.
