SJ9718 : The Glacial Boulder

taken 54 years ago, near to Brocton, Staffordshire, England

The Glacial Boulder
The Glacial Boulder

The Glacial Boulder, which is a glacial erratic placed here in the 1950s, marks the southern limit of the northern ice sheet that carried the boulder from southern Scotland to Cannock Chase.
The boulder has been matched to a rock outcrop at Criffel in Dumfries & Galloway in the Southern Uplands of Scotland.

The boulder stands on the base of what was a reservoir tower that supplied water to steam locomotives.
