Strinesdale Country Park
One of the "wildlife areas" at the Strinesdale Country Park.
Strinesdale
Strinesdale is a 20 hectare (50 acre) area of water and woodland countryside situated on the fringe of Oldham's town centre, just off the A62 between Oldham and Delph. The name “Strinesdale” derives from Old English word "Strine" meaning boundary, as the old Lancashire/Yorkshire boundary ran through the middle of the site.
The original reservoirs were built in 1828. In 1991, these reservoirs were drained and replaced by two smaller lakes with the old reservoir sites being planted with trees and grassland.
