Following refurbishment, the main entrance to Tameside General Hospital was moved in 2011 to the South side of the extended Hartshead building. Access is now from Darnton Road rather than Fountain Street although the latter former main entrance SJ9599 : Hartshead Building is still the one used by buses and for access to A&E.
