Site of Lancaster bomber DV382 crash, 13/02/1944
After a bombing mission to southern France, the plane called in at Ford airfield for refuelling on its way back to its base at Woodhall Spa. It crashed shortly after taking off from Ford. All eight crew were killed. The small sign is a very impermanent memorial - see SU9414 : Sign at site of Lancaster bomber DV382 crash, 13/02/1944 - but a proper memorial is now at Upwaltham church.
