Sea kayak camp at Port Kilchoan
Sea kayak camp at Port Kilchoan
This late afternoon shot was taken at the second campsite of a south-to-north sea kayak trip round Ardnamurchan Head, after a seventeen mile day. As a campsite it was very fine indeed with flat grass based on shell sand, so something that you could get pegs into ! The views out to the Small Isles and Skye had been good all day and continued so into the sunset. The approach from the sea left a bit more to be desired at a lowish tide, as we had to thread our way through seaweed-covered rocks and finally carry the heavily loaded boats over the slippery and treacherous terrain. The person who picked the campsite assured us that it would be easier in the morning, but, in fact, the tide was even lower and getting back to sea proved a real trial.
