The name given to the line between Reading and Redhill, constructed by the Reading, Guildford and Reigate Railway (RG&RR), opening in 1849. Fuller information Link
The line was opened in 1842 by the South Eastern Railway (SER). It was part of the first route from London to Dover. It was electrified in 1993. The line branches off the Brighton Main Line at Redhill and joins the South Eastern Main line at Tonbridge.
The Brighton Main Line opened in 1841. It operates between London (London Bridge and Victoria) and Brighton, it is 50 miles long. Today it is a very busy line as it includes trains to Gatwick Airport.
