Broad gauge railway line post
Broad gauge railway line post
Almost swallowed up in the undergrowth near The Drim are several of these rusty iron fence posts. A closer look reveals that they are made of old railway line but not any railway line: this is the broad gauge (7ft) line chosen by Brunel for the GWR and used until 1892 when standard gauge was adopted nationally. The lines all the way to Bristol were taken up and used for fencing etc.
