Burnmoor Lodge and Tarn, Cumbria
Burnmoor Lodge and Tarn, Cumbria
This remote habitation was built as a shooting lodge by Lord Leconfield in the second half of the 19th Century. From the 1950s through to (maybe) the early 1980s it was much used by a Christian Youth organisation, led here by "Doc" Foote - a pathologist from Nottingham.

The house is still owned by the same family, so don't go thinking it is derelict or a bothy - it is neither.

This image was scanned from an unbranded rather grainy monochrome negative, and dates (I think) from April 1965.
