Stokesay Castle is a fortified manor house , a mile south of the town of Craven Arms. It was built in the late 13th century. Currently in the guardianship of English Heritage.

The late E.S.Wood in his 'Historic Britain (1998) informed us '"The 'castle' has two towers (of 1115 and 1291) flanking a great hall of 1284. The timbered upper part of the gatehouse dates from 1570".
